Contribution rules
Campaign contributions are subject to the Municipal Elections Act, 1996. The maximum allowable contribution is $1,200 per individual to any one candidate, and $5,000 in total across all candidates running for the same council or school board.
Contributions are not eligible for federal or provincial income-tax credits. If you are a resident of the Town of Oakville and donate to a campaign, you are eligible for a 50% rebate on a donation of $100 or more, up to $1,200.
